Management seminar organized by the Chinese Academy of Press and Publications in cooperation with the Frankfurt Book Fair Academy for the Association of Digital Publishing Managers of China.
Introduction
As we are living in a world that is connecting by the internet, analyze the moving trend of the international digital publication, promote the turnover of the publishing industry and stimulate the digital publishing industry development is one essential task for the publishing industry.
With the purpose and the ambition we have, the leading management of national press and publishing organizations have visited the U.S in batches in order to exchange ideas, learn and train. The main purpose of their visits are discussing the setbacks and struggles of what they have been overcoming under the transition of which from traditional paper books to the new style digital and online printing. As well as to get to know the update-to-date methods of digital publishing in the U.S. Through this cherish opportunity, to gain useful ideas and knowledge for their own business.
The trips provided the opportunities for eastern side to gain a thorough insight of how are the U.S publishing management principles work and how they actually implement through practicing, and also how are they coping when under the circumstance that the new technology has been developed day by day. The most important is to discuss the U.S digital publishing market opportunities, risks, technology, reform and new schemes. Many publishing experts from the world publishing industry such as State University of New York, Pace University, Penguin Group, Harper Collins Publishers, Random House, Inc, Elsevier, John Wiley & Sons, Inc., Perseus, Hachette, Cross River Publishing Consultants, Inc. etc provided comprehensive lectures and advice to the eastern participants. During the 12 days trip, we tried our best to achieve the highest standard of academic outcomes, including seminars, face to face discussions and actual field visits. As a result of these trips to the U.S, the participants from China learned the most trendy and practical knowledge of publishing in America, gained insightful information and opened up their minds. This program has so far joined by nearly 100 people and made enormous progress towards the possibilities of integration of technology and digital publishing.
