Makes Research Visit to “City of Literature” Nanjing

 


On 30 October, 2019, Nanjing was honoured as "City Of Literature" by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), and it was the first city in China to receive this award.

 

The delegation of International Affairs Working Committee on Cultural Publishing Cooperation of China Publishing and Promotion Association (CPPA) visit "City Of Literature" Nanjing for research. Dawei Li, Chairman of International Affairs Working Committee on Cultural Publishing Cooperation CPPA, Bo Li, director of Communication Division of Publicity Department of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, Qing Wang, deputy director of Publishing Division of Publicity Department of the CPC Nanjing Municipal Committee, president of  Nanjing Cultural Investment Holding Group, Yiwu Wen, Secretary-General of Nanjing UNESCO City of Literature Promotion Society and Shuang Yuan, the focal point of UNESCO Nanjing City of Literature and director of Nanjing "City of Literature" Promotion Center attended this event.


Director Yuan introduced a series of work of the Nanjing "City of Literature" Promotion Center since 2023, including hosting 2023 International Youth Creativity and Heritage Along the Silk Roads, bid for "UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities", promoting International Comics Artists in Residence Program, attending UNESCO cities OF LITERATURE 2023 annual meeting online, implementing Nanjing International Writers' Residency Program, finishing 2023 Nanjing Literature Translation Sponsorship Program, and launching the brand reading campaign Read on the lake.
 
Chairman Li stated, Nanjing deserves to win "City of Literature". Nanjing is one of the Four Great Ancient Capitals of China and symbolize the 5000-year Chinese history and civilization. Famous literature writers with great works emerged from Nanjing leaving the city with historical holdings. In the World Literature Saloon of the Nanjing "City of Literature" Promotion Center, the Chinese long history and profound literature were skillfully blended with digital technology by litterateurs of Nanjing and technologists.
 
Chairman Li suggested if the Nanjing "City of Literature" Promotion Center is willing and able to work on international literary prizes, host the World Bookstore Conference, and prepare projects such as the Museum of The Poetry Anthology For World Peace and the Portrait Gallery of the World's Famous Literary Giant, Chairman Li and his team will support and assistant them as much as possible.
 
Both sides agreed that the city of literary Nanjing will develop internationally with characteristics of China and Nanjing, and looked to more cooperation in the future.
