Exchange and Co-operation, Development and Matchmaking Series of Activities Held in Hong Kong





 
       
       Hong Kong, a Special Administrative Region of the People's Republic of China, is a highly prosperous international metropolis, known as the ‘Nuremberg’ together with New York and London, and is the world's third largest financial centre, an important international trade and shipping centre and an international centre for innovation and technology, as well as a place where the cultures of China and the West meet.
       
       Due to Hong Kong's prosperous trade system and free economic system, Hong Kong's publishing industry has formed a unique development advantage and integration of international development space. In order to promote China's publishing ‘to go out’, make full use of Hong Kong's international advantages, China Publishing Promotion Association of Cultural and Publication Cooperation International Affairs Working Committee hosted by the Hong Kong Joint Publishing Group, supported by the ‘China's publishing houses in mainland China and Hong Kong region, exchange and cooperation, the development of docking series of activities in 2024 July 14 to 18 in Hong Kong. 14-18 July 2024 in Hong Kong. 
       
       The mainland publishing guests went to Hong Kong to dock with Hong Kong publishing organisations, exchange talks, negotiate and cooperate, develop and promote the international operation and dissemination of China's publishing through multiple channels, and at the same time, participate in the much-anticipated Hong Kong Book Fair.
 
       After the arrival of the mainland guests in Hong Kong, Li Jiping, President of Joint Publishing (Group), met with the mainland publishing colleagues and carried out cordial and friendly exchanges on issues of common concern; Li Meng, Deputy General Manager of the Group's Business Development and Public Relations Department, accompanied the attendance.
 
 
 
Roundtable on Exchange and Co-operation between Publishing Colleagues of the Two Places
 
 
 
    During the stay in Hong Kong, the Opening Ceremony of the Mainland and Hong Kong Publishing House Exchange and Co-operation, Development and Matchmaking Series (2024-Hong Kong) and the Roundtable on Exchange and Co-operation between Publishing Colleagues of the Two Places were held, with the main purpose of discussing the current development, the future direction, and co-operation and development of publishing colleagues of the two places. Participants said that Hong Kong is economically developed, with rich capital, advanced technology and market management experience, but small area, lack of resources and land constraints; the Mainland has vast land, rich resources, Hong Kong and the Mainland to co-operate in two-way joint and business activities, to achieve complementarity of advantages, development and win-win situation, so as to promote the dissemination of Chinese culture to the world, the Mainland and Hong Kong guests of the meeting on the publication of the two places The guests from the Mainland and Hong Kong had in-depth discussions and exchanges on the co-operation between the two places in publishing.

   Mr David Li, Chairman of the Working Committee on Co-operation and International Affairs of the China Publishing Promotion Association (CPPA), and Mr Lee Ka Kui, President of the Hong Kong Publishers Association (HKPA), co-chaired the meeting.

    During their stay in Hong Kong, the mainland guests visited and conducted consultation and research on cultural and bookstore projects such as the Commercial Press (Hong Kong) Limited Tsim Sha Tsui Bookstore, the Joint Publishing (Hong Kong) Limited Central Market Bookstore and the Hong Kong Museum of Art.
 
      On the first day of the opening of the 34th Hong Kong Book Fair, the mainland guests were deeply involved on site to gain an in-depth understanding of international publishing and development, communicate with exhibitors and discuss co-operation.

        The Hong Kong Book Fair, dedicated to the promotion of local reading culture, focuses on on-site book sales. This year, the number of exhibitors and brands participating in the Book Fair reached 800, and more than 600 cultural activities were organised. The Book Fair site was crowded with people, and 1 million Hong Kong citizens and readers from the Greater Bay Area entered the Book Fair site during the exhibition period.
